The LifeShirt® technology brings gold-standard monitoring technology into the real-world environment.
The LifeShirt® technology by VivoMetrics® is a miniaturized, ambulatory version of an in-patient system currently used in more than 1,000 hospitals worldwide. It has more than 10 patents covering wearable sensor design and proprietary software algorithms, and the LifeShirt® System has been cited in hundreds of scientific papers.
At the heart of the LifeShirt® System technology is a respiratory monitoring method called inductive plethysmography, which monitors breathing patterns by passing a continuous, low voltage electrical current through externally placed wires that surround the wearer’s rib cage and abdomen. By virtue of its design, inductive plethysmography reduces the signal interference and distortion often associated with other technologies, resulting in a more accurate measurement of the wearer’s respiratory functions.
VivoMetrics® products collect data through various sensors, including respiratory bands (which measure pulmonary function) and an ECG (which records electrical activity of the heart). It also tracks and records posture and activity information.
